Reside is the blog of New York based interior designer Annika Bartz. Reside’s hope is to educate and inspire people to be at home in their houses and apartments, being deliberate about making the home into a place where life unravels, family and friends come together, and all who enter are refueled.

Raised in Ohio by her native Swedish parents, Annika developed an attraction for the simplicity of Scandinavian life and design at an early age. She studied interior design at Kent State University and developed professionally in New York City, all the while taking every moment at home to nurture her love of the art of homemaking. An NCIDQ certified designer, Annika has worked for several well-known designers. Annika is plagued by constant tinkering in her apartment as well as the perusing of flea markets, antique malls, and New York City streets for abandoned treasures. She resides in Brooklyn. In her free time, Annika can be found in her running shoes or in the kitchen, all the while spending coveted time with her high school love and husband, Dan.

Annika! This is so exciting! I love what you have done with this site so far. Great concept! I know our own house is no designer’s dream by any means, but in my 7 years in Real Estate I have learned so much about different styles of homes. It is amazing how you can sense the personality of the owners just by walking through their home, even if the owners are not there. I think that in todays economy people are staying home more, and it becomes more important to home owners to create a personalized environment that is comfortable, rather than a show place. My feeling is that this business could really take off for you. You just have to figure out how to get it out to the prospective clients. Looking forward to watch it develope! 🙂 Mom
